INSANITY Live

INSANITY Live is a revolutionary high-intensity interval group fitness program that welcomes all those who are seeking improved cardiovascular-conditioning, strength, agility and stability while enhancing body composition. Its styling appeals to both the traditional group fitness/aerobics class enthusiast as well as to those who are looking for athletic, drill-based, cardio-interval and body-weight stability training. The workout is intentionally designed to help a range of participants, from the conditioned athlete to the (group) fitness newcomer, feel successful, yet, challenged by each workout.  Modifications, progressions and regressions are demonstrated throughout this self-paced, pre-designed program.

The purpose of this presentation is to both discuss and experience 1) the physical and mental health benefits of INSANITY Live for all levels; 2) examples and inspiration in program design that can be applied to multiple class formats, with the goal of improving physical well-being 3) examples of modifications, progressions and regressions to appeal to a broader audience of class participant.

This workshop will accomplish the following objectives, in the order below:

  1. Discuss the physical benefits of INSANITY Live and it’s class design structure
  2. Explain how the INSANITY Live class design structure can be relevant and impactful in various fitness disciplines to introduce new challenges for the class participant and leaving them feeling successful
  3. Demonstrate and discuss examples of modifications, progressions and regressions​
  4. Experience all three of the above objectives in the INSANITY Live Master Class

The overarching goal in this INSANITY Live presentation is to educate the group fitness professional on how to bring self-paced, drill-based interval training to a broader group fitness population so as to welcome in a wide range of class participants while conducting a safe and effective workout for all.

Who is Erin Scott?

Erin is a Master Trainer for Beachbody Live, providing ACE/AFAA/NASM continuing education in the southern United States. Erin received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech and began her fitness career in Boston, MA. She is an AFAA-certified group fitness instructor teaching high-energy classes such as Turbo Kick Live, INSANITY Live, P90X Live, CIZE Live and PiYo Live. She also holds an ACE Personal Trainer certificate and is listed as a certified fitness professional with IDEA FitnessConnect. Erin was recognized as the Top Master Trainer in North America for INSANITY Live in the first quarter of 2015. In November of 2010, Erin was recognized as the Healthworks Foundation Volunteer of the Month and in July 2011 was given the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award. In late 2012, Erin relocated to southern Alabama. The move prompted "early retirement" from her career as a neuroscientist with Harvard and MIT and she quickly transitioned into fitness full-time. Erin loves to dance and is passionate about all styles of music, especially rockabilly, punk, hip hop and rock. She has a passion for lifting others up and helping people see their fullest potential. Her mission is to help people experience the fun and excitement of fitness.
