CPR/AED and First Aid
UL Rec Sports offers two CPR/AED and First Aid certifications through the American Red Cross.
- Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Providers
Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid course will prepare you to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies for people of all ages, including infants, and will educate and train you in the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). This course is offered as a blended learning course meaning that you will complete some work on your own at home and then practice what you have learned with one of our instructors on your scheduled class date. Typical total class length is 4.5 hours: 1.5 hours online and about 3 hours in person.
- Classes are held in room 155B in Bourgeois Hall and are scheduled on the last Friday of each month for 3 hours to allow for any extra practice or skill review that participants may need. However, classes will typically take about 1 hour to complete. Classes listed below with an "*" have been moved to an earlier date to accommodate holidays and exams.
- Your online work must be completed before participating in-person on your scheduled class date.
Professional and Health Care Provider course is designed to prepare you to respond to cardiac or breathing emergencies in adults, children, and infants until more advanced medical personnel can take over. From assessing needs and making decisions to providing care, this professional-level certification program teaches you the basic life support skills required for your job. This course is offered as a blended learning course meaning that you will complete some work on your own at home and then practice what you have learned with one of our instructors on your scheduled class date. Typical online class length is about 6 hours: 3 hours online and about 5 hours in person.
Registration & Payment
To register please complete our online registration form and submit it by the Registration Deadline.
Payment will be accepted on the day of class. Rec Sports currently only accepts cash and check payments. Checks should be made out to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. If you choose to pay in cash please bring the exact amount as we are unable to make change.
A minimum of three participants are required to hold a class. Refunds will be issued if a class is canceled or you may opt to attend the next available class.
